Migrating your first mainframe workload to AWS [Level 200]

To ensure a successful migration of your first mainframe workload to AWS, there are a few steps that need to be considered. Most importantly, the goal for the migration must be clear and communicated across the organization with executive buy in. The available paths to migrate should be well understood, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each one in order to avoid surprises and misaligned expectations. The best pattern should be selected for the workload based on the organization's goals and workload’s characteristics. Automation should be leveraged to reduce risk and existing tests can be reused as automated testing to ensure functional equivalence, and then once on AWS, the workload can be optimized to realize additional benefits.
